Where to buy expired domains

Expired domains are sold in three main ways: registrar auctions before the name drops, backorder services that try to catch it as it drops, and ordinary registrars once it has been released. Here is where to go for each.

Expiry auctions

Registrars auction names their customers did not renew. Bidding happens before the name is deleted, so this is where most valuable names change hands.

Backorder and drop-catching services

For names already in pending delete. You place a backorder in advance and usually pay only if the service catches the name. If several people backorder the same name, it goes to a private auction.
