How it works

  1. Cartoon .com domain extension mascot: a red .com with two big eyes and a wide smile, running with one fist punched high in the air

    Find

Search names that are about to drop, in pending delete, or up for auction, filtered by extension, length, age, price and keyword.

  2. Cartoon .org domain extension mascot: a purple .org with two big eyes and a wide smile, running with both fists up, celebrating

    Vet

See archive history, backlink and authority metrics, and spam warnings side by side, each labelled with its source and when it was checked.

  3. Cartoon .uk domain extension mascot: a red .uk with two big eyes and a wide smile, running and waving

    Buy

Go straight to the registrar or marketplace selling the name. FreedDomains never claims a name is available without evidence from the registry or seller.

Domain hunting that's actually fun

Other expired-domain sites are grey spreadsheets. We think finding a name should feel like a treasure hunt, so we flipped it on its head: same serious data, much friendlier faces.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the names come from?

Only from the registries' own lists and open data: Nominet's .uk drop list, the .se, .nu, .it, .hu and .au drop lists, deleted .fr names from Afnic and ICANN zone data, never from other expired-domain sites. Each name gets archive history, a spam check and a quality score.

What is an expired domain?

A domain whose owner did not renew it. After a series of grace periods it is either sold at auction or deleted and released for anyone to register. Our expired domains guide explains the whole process.

Are expired domains good for SEO?

Some are. A name with a clean history and real, relevant links can give a new site a head start. Many are not: spam history, penalties and irrelevant links are common. Always check a domain's history before buying.

Is buying an expired domain legal?

Yes. Once a registry releases a name, or a marketplace sells it, it is a normal purchase. Avoid names that match someone else's trademark, and never use an old name to pretend to be its previous owner.

Does FreedDomains sell domains?

No. FreedDomains helps you find and vet names. You buy through the registrar or marketplace that lists the name, and we will always show where a listing came from and when it was last checked.

Can you buy an expired domain?

Yes. Once a name is deleted by its registry, anyone can register it at the normal price. Before that, it may be sold at auction by the old owner's registrar, or caught by a backorder service the moment it drops.

Where can I find expired domains?

On the registries' own drop lists, which FreedDomains collects in one place: the expired domains list for names about to drop and the just dropped list for names already deleted.

Are expired domains free?

A deleted name costs only the normal registration fee, usually a few pounds a year. Names that go to auction or are caught by a backorder service cost whatever the winning bid is.
