Expired domain auctions

Cartoon .biz domain extension mascot: a golden yellow .biz with two big eyes and a wide smile, running with a fist raised

Many of the best expiring names never reach the public drop: the registrar that holds them auctions them first. Others are caught at the drop and auctioned among everyone who backordered them.

Where expired names are auctioned

Auction houseWhat it sells
GoDaddy AuctionsNames expiring at GoDaddy, the largest registrar, plus closeouts that did not sell.
DynadotNames expiring at Dynadot, with backorders and closeout prices.
NameJetPre-release names from partner registrars and pending-delete backorder auctions.
SnapNamesBackorder auctions shared with NameJet.
DropCatchNames caught at the drop, auctioned among backorder customers.

How to bid well

  1. Check the name first: the domain checker and our checklist.
  2. Decide your maximum before the auction starts. Our fair value on every row is a starting point.
  3. Expect most bidding in the last minutes; many auctions extend when a late bid arrives.
  4. Remember the renewal fee on top of the winning bid.
  5. If you lose, watch for the name on the just dropped or caught lists: unsold names often come back as closeouts.

Live auction listings with prices, bids and time left will appear here as auction houses' partner feeds are connected. Until then, our dropping soon list shows every name about to be released, with a Backorder link on each.
