Check any domain's live registry status, expiry date and registrar, see when it is likely to drop if it is not renewed, and when the Wayback Machine first and last saw it.
What the results mean
- Registered and active: someone owns it and it is not expiring yet.
- Expired: past its expiry date but the owner can usually still renew it.
- In redemption: only the previous owner can get it back.
- Pending delete: it will be released within days. A backorder is the usual way to try for it.
- No registration record: the registry does not know the name, which normally means you can register it. Always confirm with a registrar.
Status comes straight from the registry using RDAP, and history from the Internet Archive. If either cannot be reached we say so rather than guess. Release dates are estimates; see expiry, redemption and pending delete.
Frequently asked questions
Is this domain checker free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no limit for normal use. Status comes straight from each registry's public RDAP service and history from the Internet Archive.
How do I know if a domain is available to buy?
If the registry has no registration record for the name, it can normally be registered straight away: the checker then shows a Buy button. If it is registered, the checker shows who it is registered with, when it expires and, if it is expiring, when it is likely to drop.
How accurate is the expiry date?
It is the date the registry publishes. Owners can renew at any time before the name is deleted, so an expiry date in the past does not mean the name is free.
What does pending delete mean?
The name can no longer be renewed and will be released, usually within five days for .com and similar extensions. A backorder is the usual way to try for it.
Why can't some extensions be checked?
A few country-code registries do not offer a public RDAP lookup. For those the checker says so rather than guessing.
