What a deleted domain is

When an expired domain is not renewed, sold or caught, the registry deletes it and it becomes free for anyone to register, first come, first served. Every name here dropped from a registry list we track and was still unregistered when we last asked the registry. Names that someone registered again move to caught domains.

How to register one

Click Register on the row, or search for the name at any registrar that sells the extension. Check its history first: our domain history checklist takes a few minutes.

Names come only from the registries' own lists, never from other expired-domain sites.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to a domain after it is deleted?

It is released to the public, and anyone can register it on a first come, first served basis at any registrar that sells that extension.

How do I register a deleted domain?

Search for it at any registrar that sells the extension and register it like a new name. If it shows as available here, nobody has taken it since it dropped.

Is it legal to buy expired domains?

Yes. A deleted domain is open to anyone. Avoid names that match someone else's trademark, because the trademark owner can still claim them.

How many deleted domains are still free to register?

Most of them: the cards above the list show how many names dropped in the last 14 days, how many are still free and how many were caught.

Do I get free SSL with a new domain?

SSL comes with the hosting, not the domain. Most hosts include free SSL for every site; see hosting security and SSL.
